CS2 Agent Skins Explained: Rarity, Patches & Prices

By Ryxens · Published · Updated

Three faceless tactical CS2 agent models

Short answer: CS2 agent skins are character models that replace the default CT or Terrorist player model, locked to whichever side they belong to, you can’t equip a T agent on CT round and vice versa. They run three rarity tiers, Distinguished, Superior, and Master, roughly $2-8, $8-20, and $15-60+ respectively, and unlike weapon skins, no agent has ever had a StatTrak version. Superior and Master agents also carry a patch slot, letting you attach a separate collectible patch item for team logos or event emblems.

How agents actually work in-game

Answer: an equipped agent changes what your character model looks like to other players, nothing about hitbox, movement, or gameplay changes, and you need one equipped per side since a T-side agent simply won’t appear when you’re playing CT.

Tier Color Typical price
Distinguished Blue $2-8
Superior Purple $8-20
Master Gold $15-60+

Master-tier agents carry the highest prices in the category, a well-known example like Sir Bloody Miami Darryl runs roughly $25-60 depending on the specific listing. There’s no StatTrak equivalent for any agent at any tier, since there’s no kill-counter mechanic that makes sense on a character model the way it does on a weapon. The “identical hitbox” point is worth repeating since it gets questioned constantly, see our CS2 agents hitbox and visibility guide for the full breakdown of that myth and the smaller, real visibility differences that do exist between models.

What the patch slot actually does

Answer: Superior and Master agents include a slot for a separate patch item, a small collectible you apply to display a team logo, event emblem, or other design on the character model, and unlike a weapon sticker, a patch can be taken off and swapped for a different one at any time.

Patches are their own tradable item category, bought and applied separately from the agent itself, similar in concept to how a sticker gets applied to a weapon, except fully reversible. Not every agent has a patch slot, it’s specifically a Superior and Master-tier feature, so a cheaper Distinguished agent generally won’t support one. See our CS2 patches guide for the full price breakdown and how Patch Packs work.

How to actually get one

Answer: agents come from case openings tied to specific operations and collections, or, far more reliably, by just buying the exact one you want directly on a marketplace.

Because agents drop from specific collection pools rather than the general weapon case pool, grinding cases for a specific agent is even more of a long shot than hunting a specific weapon skin. For anyone who wants a particular agent rather than a random one, buying it directly is the practical route, the same logic that applies to gloves and knives.

FAQ

Can you use the same CS2 agent on both CT and T sides?

No. Agents are locked to one side. You need a separate agent equipped for CT and for T, since a Terrorist-side agent won’t appear when you’re playing Counter-Terrorist and vice versa.

Do CS2 agents have StatTrak versions?

No. No agent skin, at any rarity tier, has ever had a StatTrak variant.

What rarity tiers do CS2 agents come in?

Three tiers: Distinguished (blue, roughly $2-8), Superior (purple, roughly $8-20), and Master (gold, roughly $15-60+). Superior and Master agents also support a separate patch slot.
